Augusta, best known as the home of the Masters golf tournament, also offers a variety of historical and other attractions, such as the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area, several museums and historic houses (including the childhood home of President Woodrow Wilson), art, boat tours, festivals and more.

The distance between Atlanta and Augusta is around 150 miles, which should take around two to two-and-a-half hours to drive depending on how much traffic there is.

Bus services between Augusta and Atlanta operate several times daily, with Greyhound. Travel time is generally a little longer than driving. Shuttle transportation between August and Atlanta Airport is also available. It is not possible to travel between the two cities by train.

The distance from Atlanta to Augusta is around 147 miles via the I-20. Typical drive time is around 2 hours 10 minutes, up to around 2 hours 40 minutes if there is traffic.

Atlanta To Augusta Bus Services

Bus services from Atlanta to Augusta are available through Greyhound. Megabus do not currently offer a stop in Augusta.

There are five direct daily bus services from Augusta to Atlanta and another five direct daily services from Atlanta to Augusta, with morning, afternoon and evening departures in each direction.

Travel time is from two hours thirty minutes up to a little over four hours, depending on the trip selected. Advance economy tickets cost from around $25 to $30 in each direction ($50-$60 round trip).

In the Atlanta to Augusta direction, day trip travel is convenient, with a bus arriving in Augusta from Atlanta in the mid morning, and a return bus departing in either the early or later evening.

In the Augusta to Atlanta direction, day trip travel is also possible, although the available departure times are less practical if you were hoping to arrive in Atlanta in the morning.

Atlanta’s main Greyhound station is located in the Downtown area, at 232 Forsyth Street SW. The station is convenient for onward travel by public transport, with MARTA’s Garnett train station just next door and stops for several MARTA bus services within a walk of a block or so.

Augusta’s bus station (the Greyhound bus stop is operated by regional affiliate Southeastern Stages), is near downtown Augusta at 1546 Broad Street. Connections to local public transport services are available, as are taxi and rideshare services.

Shuttle From Augusta To Atlanta Airport

Groome Transportation offers daily shuttles between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and several Augusta area stops, including hotels in downtown Augusta and North Augusta.

Shuttles run approximately every two hours and fifteen minutes, with arrivals at and departures from Atlanta Airport available from early morning to mid evening.

Travel time to the airport’s domestic terminal is around two hours fifteen minutes to three hours, depending on the location of the stop in Augusta. Travel time to the international terminal is fifteen minutes longer.

The fare is $52 for adults ($104 round trip) and $37 for children ages 3-7 ($74 round trip). Infants travel free. Pets are welcome, for a fee of $15 ($30 round trip). Pick up and drop off at specific Augusta area hotels is available for an additional fee. A modest discount is sometimes available for online reservations.

Atlanta To Augusta Flights

Non-stop flights from Atlanta to Augusta are available through Delta, operated by its affiliate Endeavor Air between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Augusta Regional Airport (AGS).

Flight time is 50-55 minutes (excluding time spent getting to and from, and at, the airport), and round-trip tickets are available starting at around $150, rising to $250-$300 depending on departure and return dates.

There are several flights daily on this route, with morning, afternoon and evening departures available in both directions.

Alternative, non-direct flights are available through American Airlines (operated by affiliate American Eagle), with the shortest routes connecting in Charlotte. Total travel time is from around 3-4 hours, with ticket prices generally somewhat more expensive than the direct routes above.

Atlanta To Augusta By Train

It is not currently possible to travel between Atlanta and Augusta by train. The nearest Amtrak station to Augusta is in Columbia, SC, 76 miles away. The nearest station on a train route serving Atlanta is in Greenville, SC, 115 miles from Augusta.
