Atlanta festivals in August usually include big outdoors events such as the Piedmont Park Arts Festival and the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival and music festivals such as BeREGGAE and the Decatur BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival.
There are usually also wine and beer events, cultural festivals such as Festival Peachtree Latino and the Festival of India, film festivals and pop culture conventions. Other things to do in Atlanta in August depend on the weather. On the hottest days, Atlanta has a wide range of air-conditioned museums and other attractions ideal for cooling off, many of them suitable for children.
Shaded parks offer some respite from the heat, but otherwise outdoor sightseeing – at historic cemeteries, interesting neighborhoods, the Atlanta BeltLine or nearby hiking areas – is best done early in the day.
